VERB
A Verb is a word that tells us what action is being done in a sentence.
It can also help to make the meaning of a sentence complete.
Verbs are often called Doing Words/ Action words in the sentence.

Examples of verbs:
- Rahul runs fast.
- Birds fly in the sky.
- The baby cries loudly.
In these sentences, the verbs tell us what action is happening.
1:- Rahul runs fast.
- The Subject: Rahul (the person we are talking about).
- The Action: What is Rahul doing? He is running.
- Why it's an action verb: "Run" is a physical movement. You can see his legs moving and his heart pumping. It describes a physical activity.

2. Birds fly in the sky.
- The Subject: Birds.
- The Action: What are the birds doing up there? They are flying.
- Why it's an action verb: Even though it looks graceful, "fly" is a big job! It involves flapping wings and moving through the air. It tells us the specific "work" the birds are performing.

3. The baby cries loudly.
- The Subject: The baby.
- The Action: What is the baby doing? The baby cries.
- Why it's an action verb: Action verbs don't always have to be about sports or moving from place to place. Expressing a sound or an emotion through your body (like crying, laughing, or shouting) is also an action!

Sometimes, a verb does not show an action. Instead, it helps to complete the meaning of the sentence.
Examples: following examples shows the verbs that are not doing any action rather they are just linking or helping sentence to make a complete sense.
- I am happy.
- She is a doctor.
- They were tired.
In these sentences, the verbs am, is and were help complete the meaning of the sentence, they are either Auxiliary or linking verb. We will discuss in details about them in our next lesson Types of Verb.
Why Do We Use Verbs?
We use verbs for many important reasons:
- To Show Action: They tell us what the person, animal, or thing is doing. (e.g., "The dog barks!")
- To Tell a Story: Without verbs, nothing happens! (e.g., "The hero jumped.")
- To Express Feelings: (e.g., "I love my new book.")
- To Give Commands: (e.g., "Listen carefully!")
